The United States on 17 July this year delivered 31 MaxxPro Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and three Metal Shark Boats to Chittagong, Bangladesh.

The MRAP vehicles will be used in UN peacekeeping operations to protect Bangladeshi peacekeepers from Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and the boats will be used for the Bangladesh Army's Riverine Battalion.

This is the first delivery of a total of 50 MRAP vehicles and 7 Metal Shark Boats purchased by the Bangladesh Army and represents over $29 million in military equipment - $13 million of which was provided by the United States as a grant.

As the largest provider of UN Peacekeepers, Bangladesh requires state-of-the-art equipment to protect its forces and the United States is committed to working with Bangladesh to meet its military readiness goals.
