Joj Mia seeks govt support

Joj Mia, the man who was falsely implicated in the 21 August grenade attack case, has expressed his satisfaction over the verdict of the case.

Ten months after the brutal attack, the law enforcement tried to portray Joj Mia as the perpetrator of the incident and forced him to give a confessional statement.

However, Prothom Alo investigation found the truth and it caused a stir across the country.

CID officers Munshi Atiq and Abdur Rashid beat him mercilessly till he agreed to become the scapegoat.

Speaking to Prothom Alo on Wednesday, Joj Mia lamented how his life had unfolded after that incident. A rickshaw-puller now, Joj Mia has recently got married and his wife is expecting.

“For one month CID beat me black and blue. I am still in pain. A bone in my right hand was fractured and my backbone is yet to heal,” he said, consoled by the fact that the people behind that have been handed punishment by the court.

However, looking back, he gets philosophical.

“What have I got? Now that the case is over, I hope the government shows me some kindness,” he said.
