Noted film director, screenwriter and actor Amjad Hossain breathed his last in Thailand on Friday. He was 76.

Amjad died at Bumrungrad International Hospital of Bangkok at 2:57pm, family members confirmed.
Amjad suffered brain stroke on 18 November and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a city hospital.
As his condition did not improve, Amjad was taken to Bangkok on 27 November.

President Abdul Hamid on Friday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Amjad Hossain, adds UNB.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor also expressed shock at death of the prominent film director.

Films directed by Amjad Hossain include "Golapi Ekhon Train-e (1978)," "Sundori (1979)," "Koshai (1980)," "Jonmo Theke Jolchhi (1982)," "Bhat Dey (1984)", "Golapi Ekhon Dhakay (2006)" and "Golapi Ekhon Bilatey (2010)."

Apart from the national film award for several times, he had received many other awards, including the Ekushey Padak in 1992.
