Alleged thief lynched in Noakhali

A suspected thief was killed in a mob attack in Char Uria village of Noakhali sadar upazila early Saturday, reports UNB.

The identity of the deceased could not be known yet.

Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Noakhali sadar police station, said a gang of thieves swooped on the house of a certain Malek of the village around 3:00am.

Sensing presence of the thieves, local people encircled the house and caught one of the thieves while the others managed to flee.

The local people beat up the alleged thief, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to Noakhali General Hospital where physicians declared him dead.
