A suspected robber was killed in what the law enforcers called a clash between two factions of robbers at Rahmatpur Bhagar in Jashore early Wednesday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known yet, UNB says.

Being tipped off that two gangs of robbers were exchanging bullets in the area, a team of police went to the spot in the dead of night, the news agency quoted sub-inspector Nur-un-Nabi of kotwali model police station as saying.

Police rescued a man with bullet injury while the others managed to flee the scene sensing presence of the law enforcers.

Later, the injured was taken to Upazila Sadar Hospital where the physicians declared him dead.

The police team also recovered a one-shutter gun, a bullet, a saw, and three sharp weapons and rope from the spot.

The law enforcement’s versions of the events were, however, not verified independently as no versions of those incidents were available immediately either from any witnesses or from any members of the victims’ families.
