Gono Forum president Kamal Hossain and its general secretary Reza Kibria on Sunday demanded the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and other political prisoners before the Eid-ul-Fitr, reports UNB.
In a message on the occasion of Eid, they said, "We demand that former prime minister Khaleda Zia and all other political prisoners be freed before the Eid."
The Gono Forum leaders also urged the government to withdraw all the 'false' cases and stop repression by police so that all can celebrate the Eid with their family members.
They greeted the country's people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
"The people of all communities in the country enjoy the Eid with their limited ability. This is our tradition and it'll remain in the future as well," the Gono Forum leaders said.
Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims, will be celebrated in the country either on 5 June or 6 June subject to Shawwal moon sighting.
