Missing child’s body recovered after 3 days

A child's body was recovered from a bush adjacent to her home in Daribamongara village in Mashinda union of Natore's Gurudaspur on Sunday, three days after she had reportedly gone missing.

The child was Mariom Khatun, a girl of five years old. She is the youngest daughter of Jamsu Hossain. The victim’s elder daughter studies in class IX.

Police suspected the child was taken to the bush to rape her. Being failed, the child was strangled to death.

Police detained a youth in connection with the incident. The body has been sent to Natore Modern Sadar Hospital.

Quoting the victim’s father, Gurudaspur police station officer-in-charge Mozharul Islam told Prothom Alo that Mariom went missing on Friday evening.

The victim’s father filed a general diary with the police station after failing to trace her.

After the autopsy report, the incident would be clear, the police official added.
