Police recovered bodies of six people and rescued two others from Sughanda point of Cox's Bazar sea beach in the district town on Wednesday.

Police assumed that all of the deceased are fishermen and might have died in trawler capsize amid storm.

However, the identities of the deceased could not be known as yet.

The rescued persons were identified as Md Jewel and Monir Hossain, from Charfasson upazila of Bhola district. They are now undergoing treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

Being informed by the locals, a team of the law enforcement recovered four bodies from the Seagull point of the beach early Wednesday while retrieved two other bodies around 7:00am, said Sadar Model police station inspector Md Khairuzzaman.

The inspector also said the police also rescued two persons alive alongside a trawler.

The bodies were taken to the Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

Inspector Md Khairuzzaman also said 15 fishers from Bhola’s Charfassion sailed for the Bay of Bengal to fish five days ago. As storm hit their trawler, fishermen jumped to the sea to save their lives. But, they failed to reach the shore.
