Biman staff detained with 4kg gold

Airport Armed Police (AAP) arrested two traffic helpers of national flag carrier Biman along with 38 gold bars weighing around 4 kg from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday, reports UNB.

Md Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent of police on deputation with the AAP said the two Biman helpers-Emdad Hossain Chowdhury, 46, and Abdur Rahim, 35,-were detained along with the illegal consignment of gold just outside the Hanger Gate of the airport around 1:45pm.

During preliminary interrogation, Emdad revealed that the gold consignment had arrived by a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok. Once it landed, several packages or containers were taken to the Import Cargo area, including those containing the gold bars.

Emdad took the gold bars containing packets in his possession from the import cargo area, the Addl. SP said quoting Emdad.

Emdad also said that Abdur Rahim helped him carry the gold consignment, Alamgir added.

A case was filed with Airport police station.
