Hanging bodies of a teenage boy and a girl of Santal community were recovered at Gopinagar village in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon on Saturday, reports UNB.

The deceased were identified as Joy Hembrom, 16, and Kajli Murmu, 18, of the area.

Joy was a 10th grader at Nojipur High School while Kajli was a 12th grader at Nojipur Mohila College.

Parimal Chandra, officer-in-charge of Patnitala police station, said police recovered the bodies of Joy and Kajli hanging from a mango tree near the Eidgah at Gopinagar village around 11:00am.

Joy was in a relationship with Kajli, said the OC adding that they might have ‘hanged themselves’ as their parents refused to accept the relationship.

However, family sources said they knew nothing about any love affair between the boy and the girl.

Joy’s father Sudhir Hembrom said Joy never informed them about his relationship.

Sudhir Hembrom filed a case with the police station in this connection.
