Gazipur factory fire doused after 6 hrs

The fire that broke out at the warehouse of Minister Refrigerator of MyOne Electronics in Gazipur's Dheerasram was doused on Friday evening after 6 hours.

Deputy assistant director of Gazipur fire service and civil defence, Mamunur Rashid, said the fire came under control around 1:30pm.

Earlier he said that the factory did not have fire safety equipment.

“We alerted the owners with a notice around 20/22 days ago as the building had no safety equipment and fire extinguisher. But the authorities did not reply. Department of inspection for factories and establishment would take necessary steps against them.”

The fire broke out on the sixth floor of the factory around 1:15am and quickly spread to an adjacent building.

Ten units of firefighters brought the blaze under control.
