Jatiya Party secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga on Saturday claimed that Shaheed Noor Hossain, who was murdered during an anti-autocracy rally during the Ershad regime, was addicted to drugs like yaba pills and phensedyl.

He made the remark at a discussion to mark ‘Democracy Day’ by JaPa Dhaka city north at Banani’s party office on Sunday.

Ranga said Awami League and BNP always overpraise Noor Hossain.

"Whom did Hussain Muhammad Ershad kill? Noor Hossain? Who was Noor Hossain? He was an addict," Ranga said in presence of JaPa chairman GM Quader and other senior leaders.

The bullet that pierced Noor Hossain's body was not the kind of bullet police used to use back then, Ranga added.
The JaPa general secretary also came down heavily on both Awami League and BNP and claimed Ershad established democracy in Bangladesh.

JaPa chairman GM Quader urged the authorities concerned to neutrally investigate the killings of Noor Hossain and Shamsul Alam Khan Milon, the noted physician.
