Two students 'raped', accused arrested

A college girl has allegedly been gang-raped in Habiganj while a madrasa student has allegedly been raped in Khulna, reports UNB.

In two other rape attempts on two sisters in Narsingdi, a youth has been detained from Narayanganj, reports UNB.

In Habiganj, a college student was allegedly raped by four miscreants at Satchari National Park in Chunarughat upazila on Tuesday.

The victim lodged a case with Habiganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 accusing five people on Wednesday in this connection.

After hearing, judge Zia Uddin Mahmud directed Chunarughat police station to investigate the complaint after registering it as first information report.

According to the case statement, the girl had been in love with Shamim Ahmed Mamun of Batashor village in sadar upazila. He had developed physical relations with her with a promise of marriage.

On Tuesday, Shamim took her to the Satchari National Park where he and his associates Fazlur Rahman, 24, Ali Hossain, 25, and Juned Latif, 27 raped her in turns while Akkas Ali stood guard.

In Khulna, a madrasa girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Sonadanga area of the city on Tuesday.

Police arrested the accused, Arif Billar alias Rajon, from Mallik Road area of Sonadanga, early Wednesday, said Momtajul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sonadanga model police station.

The arrest was made following a case filed over the incident.

According to the case statement, Rajon called the madrasa student to his house on Tuesday evening and violated her. He also threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone.

However, the victim narrated the incident to her mother and later filed the case.

The victim was taken to the One-Stop Crisis Centre of Khulna Medical College Hospital for physical test.

Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a youth from Signboard area of Narayanganj on Tuesday for trying to rape two sisters from Narsingdi.

The arrested was identified as Alamgir Khan, 25, from Katakushia area in Kendua, Netrakona.

Alamgir, who secured a job at Kachukhet Army Store in 2012, collected fake identity cards and uniforms and used to dupe people identifying him as a member of RAB, police or army, said RAB-11 media officer and additional superintendent of police Alep Uddin.

He took shelter in the victims’ house in Chalakchar area of Manohardi upazila in Narsingdi and tried to rape them on 25 December last.

On 30 December, he abducted the two girls and started for Barishal by a launch and tried to rape them on a cabin, the RAB official said.
