A four-day international exposition is expected to begin in Dhaka on 27 March to showcase food and agriculture-related innovative products and services from home and abroad.

A total of 132 market players, including 40 from 10 foreign countries, will join the expo to be held in the capital’s International Convention City Bashundhara, organiser said.

They will showcase their products and services in 150 booths at the Food and Agro Bangladesh International Expo 2019, the 4th edition.

Apart from Bangladesh, the participating countries are India, China, Thailand, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Palestine, and the UAE.

“The 4th Food and Agro expo will be a perfect platform for manufacturers and suppliers to showcase their products and services. This will also highlight the rapid development in the food industry,” Meherun N Islam, president and group managing director of CEMS Bangladesh, told a media briefing at Economic Reporters’ Forum on Sunday.

CEMS Bangladesh, in association with CEMS Global USA, is organising the event.

Agents, distributors, importers, trading companies, wholesalers, retailers, hoteliers, business representatives, restaurateurs, consumers, and bulk purchasers from around the world will assemble at the expo.

It, according to the organisers, is the biggest international exhibition on food, beverage, agriculture and horticulture products and equipment, poultry products, livestock products, fishing and aquaculture and other related products and services, agricultural machinery and equipment, chemicals, packaging and processing.

Meherun Islam said, “Bangladesh can easily enter the markets such as Palestine and Afghanistan with its food products and services. The government and related chambers can think about it.”

Bangladesh food exports rose 12 times in the past five years, she added.

Three more exhibitions will also take place at the same venue simultaneously. They are: 4th Poultry and Livestock Bangladesh International Expo 2019; 4th Agro Chem Bangladesh Expo 2019; and Int’l Printing and Packaging Expo 2019.

The expositions will be open at 10.30am and continue till 8.30pm.

Tanveer Qamrul Islam, executive director of CEMS Bangladesh, Nayem Sharif, head of marketing and communications, and Asif Arman, senior manager for international coordination, were present at the briefing.
