DITF draws huge crowds Friday

A large number of visitors thronged the Dhaka International Trade Fair 2019 on Friday, the second holiday since it started on 9 January.

Majority of visitors thronged the stalls displaying home appliances, kitchenware, toys and food items while traders were seen happy and expressed satisfaction over the rising trend of crowds coming from different parts of the capital and its adjacent areas.

Besides, many children were seen enjoying different rides in the children park while many of the visitors came to the fair just to hang out.

While taking to UNB, exhibitors expressed satisfactions over the Friday's crowds as they have been expecting a record sell this year.
Aminul Islam, a sales executive of Billal Fashion, said huge buyers visited their stall on Friday. "We hope that we will be able to sell more products than the previous years."

"Although many visitors were seen hanging on the fairground, we have been able to sell highest number of products on Friday in compare to the last 10 days," he added.

Murad Nobi, chairman of Forum for Development Association, said, "I have bought a jute-made 'jainamaj' (prayer rug) for only Tk 80. Everyone should buy jute made products instead of plastic products to bring back the golden era of jute."

However, Kamal Hossain and Saida Akter, a newly-wed couple, came to the fair just to enjoy the day, said the husband adding, "We got married in November last and came to visit the fair upon her (wife) request."
"We did not buy anything yet. We will decide after visiting the fair... bur cosmetic items and food are on the list," he added.

Ruhul Amin, a representative of Kaniz Enterprise, said, "We are getting good responses compared to the last years."
Cooking items are being sold like hotcake, he added.

"Huge number of visitors is coming to the fair... so, hopefully, we will be able to sell more this year," he also said.

Asma Khanom, a visitor from the city's Mirpur area, said she had bought several melamine plates and a dish along with some food items.

When asked about why did she chose to visit the fair, Asma told this correspondent, "There are options to choose from many alternatives and also the price remains reasonable here."
PRAN-RFL Group Marketing Director Kamruzzaman Kamal said, "We have received huge response from buyers as all of our products are better than other manufacturers... our price is also reasonable."
