Tk 321b proposed for defence ministry

An amount of Tk 321.01 billion (Tk 32,101 crore) has been proposed for the defence ministry and other services under the ministry in the national budget for 2019-20 fiscal year.

The proposed allocation is higher by Tk 14 billion (Tk 1400 crore) of the revised budget of 2018-19 fiscal year while less by Tk 29.84 billion (Tk 2984 crore) of the proposed budget, reports UNB.

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal made the announcement during the budget speech at the Jatiya Sangasad Bhaban on Thursday afternoon.

Of the proposed amount, Tk 292.85 billion (Tk 29285 crore) has been kept aside for operating expenditure, Tk 1.48 (Tk 148 crore) for the development expenditure of the defence ministry, while Tk 12.98 billion (Tk 1298 crore) for other services and Tk 380 million (Tk 38 crore) for the Armed Forces Division.
