There was a choice from 14 different types of meat and 75 minutes to cook a meal. Kishwar Chowdhury chose goat meat. She decided to cook khashir rezala (a special goat meat curry) and parartha. But Kishwar also realised that this was a time consuming preparation. However, she felt she could make it in 30 minutes with the help of a pressure cooker.

If she failed to complete her dish in time, Kishwar would be dropped from the competition. Her anxiety mounted. She also realised, if she cooked too hurriedly, she could make a mess of things and also be eliminated from the Masterchef Australia contest.

Kishwar survives this episode too

Bangladeshi-origin Kishwar not only managed to complete her dish in time, but also won ebullient praise from the judges and remained a strong contender for the Masterchef title. The world media has made this contender of Masterchef Australia Season 13 quite a star. They are effusive in their praise for Kishwar and her delicious Bangladeshi concoctions.

Kishwar told the Sydney Morning Post this Sunday that her parents had come to Australia 50 years ago and what they brought along with them was traditional Bengali cuisine. Food was their link to the home they had left behind.

Born and brought up in Melbourne, Australia, Kishwar has a deep love from Bengali food and many people feel this is one of the main factors behind her popularity. By representing Bangladesh through Bengali cuisine, Kishwar has drawn Bengalis close. She says she gets thousands of messages from people of both Bengals telling her that her work brightens up their lives in these dark times. And that is exactly what she wanted to do.

Chatting with the judges

The social media is also rife with discussions on Kishwar. On Facebook one of her fans wrote that she had brought a smile to many people's faces. Bangladesh and India are going through hard times and she has been therapeutic.

Manager of the Roseland ALDI store in Australia, Borhan Khan, said amid bad news all around, he turns on the TV simply to watch Kishwar and the Bengali journey forward. He said that he too then felt like cooking some of the Bengali dishes.
