Ton-up Rahul, Dhoni power India to imposing total
Centuries from Lokesh Rahul and Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India to 359 for 7 in their warm-up game against Bangladesh in Cardiff on Tuesday.
The Indians did not have the perfect start, as Mustafizur Rahman trapped Shikhar Dhawan (1) leg before and Rubel Hossain bowled Rohit Sharma (19). The latter fell on 50, and the fact that it was the 14th over tells us how good Bangladesh's bowling was at the initial stages.
Mohammad Saifuddin then bowled Virat Kohli (47) with a beautiful delivery while Rubel soon struck again to remove Vijay Shankar (2) to keep the game evenly poised, with the score on 102 for 4.
Rahul and Dhoni then started attacking the Tigers bowlers and soon India were eyeing 300.
Abu Jayed and Mosaddek Hossain were at the receivng ends as the duo slammed fours and sixes, but the other bowlers were not spared either.
Rahul's inngings ended on 108 when he was bowled by Sabbir Rahman. The batsman hit 12 fours and four sixes in his 99-ball innings.
Dhoni was the top-scorer with 112 off 78 balls, hammering eight fours and seven sixes.
Shakib Al Hasan claimed two late wickets.
