The government has taken decision to shut all coaching centres across the country between 1 April and 6 May during the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations to curb question paper leak.

Education minister Dipu Moni came up with the announcement following a meeting of the law enforcement and monitoring committee at the secretariet on Monday.

The HSC and equivalent exams will begin on 1 April. Written exams will continue till 11 May and practical exams upto 21 May.

Public exams were marred by question paper leak and other irregularities in recent years.

Elaborating the decisions taken to curb question paper leak, Dipu Moni said that the question papers would be wrapped by aluminum foil paper envelop before being sent to respective exam centers.

She said students must take their seats 30 minutes prior to exam time.

No one in the exam center can carry mobile phone or any other electronic devices the minister said adding only the secretary at the center can use a feature phone.

Dipu Moni said a committee has been formed to supervise social media sites.

A total of 1,351,309 students will participate in this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations.
