IUT student crowned top prize in UIU’s HR Hulk 2016

Fahrial Alam, a student of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), was announced as the next ‘Smashing’ HR manager at United International University (UIU) HR Forum’s second annual HR Hulk competition on Saturday.

Another team from IUT was also adjusted as the first runners up, in a competition where 48 teams from over twenty public and private universities participated to become the next best thing for the HR industry.

Fahrial won Tk 50,000 as the winner’s prize money, while the first and second runner’s up received Tk 30,000 and Tk 20,000 respectively, reports UNB news agency.

Illuminating the whole university premises in green, the competition took the comic character ‘The Incredible Hulk’s namesake to personify the dynamism that an HR manager has to possess and HR aspirants often fail to realise.

The month-long event began from 2 October with preliminary registration, after which the final teams were selected after going through four knockout rounds, which included buzzer rounds, case study-solving, focus group discussion and lastly, a presentation in the finale.

The judges in the finale included HR stalwarts such as Md Tariqul Haque, chief consultant and chairman of Enroute International Ltd, Md Nazrul Islam, SVP and head of HR operations at AB Bank Ltd, Taslim Ahmed, head of corporate communications and PR at Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Ltd, M Mahmud Hasan, HR Manager at TIB and Muhammad Nur-E-Alam, HR Manager at Ha-Meem Group.

A series of panel discussions included another set of HR stalwarts from distinguished establishments such as Solaiman Shukhon, head of marketing at Aamra Networks Ltd, Aftab Mahmud Khurshid, Group chief marketing officer at SSG Bangladesh and more.
