HSC admission guidelines published

The XI class admission circular 2024-25 has been published following the publication of results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams. There will be no admission this time like the previous year. Students will be admitted on the basis of SSC results. The deadline for online submission of application starts 26 May and ends on 11 June. The applications will be accepted in three phases. The highest admission fee has been finalised.

Online application

According to XI Class admission circular 2024-25, the activities of class XI admission will be run online this year on a specific website. The student’s won’t be allowed to apply in other ways. The application fee has been fixed at Tk 150.

The students will have to put at least five or a maximum of 10 preferences of choice. A student will have the chance to get admitted to one of the colleges of their preference based on merit, quota and their preference.

How many seats under merit quota

A total of 93 per cent of vacant seats will be considered as seats under merit quota. These seats will be open for all. Among the remaining 7 per cent, 5 per cent will be allocated for the families of valiant freedom fighters, 1 per cent will be allocated for the families of employees and officials of the education ministry and 1 per cent will be for the families of the employees of the agencies and directorates under the ministry. In this case, if the number of applicants exceeds the number of seats under quota, then students will be admitted on the basis of their merit.

Group selection

The students passed from the science group will be able to choose any of the three groups – science, business studies and humanities, and the students who passed SSC from the business studies or humanities group can choose between the humanities or business studies group.

And students from any group can apply for any of the groups of Islamic studies, home economics and music. The madrasah students, who passed Dakhil from the science group, can choose any of the three groups – science, humanities and business studies. And madrasah students who passed Dakhil from the other two groups can choose any of the groups except science.

The students who passed SSC (vocational) from the Bangladesh Technical Education Board can apply for any of the groups in general education.

Changing colleges or other equivalent institutes

No students can be issued a transfer certificate (TC) without any prior permission from the relevant education boards. Students cannot be admitted with TC without the permission of the relevant board. The students who want to change their college will have to apply to the respective boards with necessary documents after paying the registration fee within 15 days of admission.

Admission fees

The highest admission fee for the 11th graders has been fixed at Tk 8,500 this time. The non-MPO English medium colleges in the Dhaka metropolitan area will be allowed to take this amount as admission fees.  And the Bangla-medium non-MPO colleges in the Dhaka metropolitan area could take a maximum of Tk 7,500 as admission fee.

In other metropolitan areas of the country, the non-MPO Bengali medium colleges could take a maximum of Tk 5,000 and English medium colleges a maximum of Tk 6,000 as admission fees.

At district level, the highest admission fee is Tk 4,000 for non-MPO English medium colleges and 3,000 for non-MPO Bengali medium colleges.

At upazila level, the highest admission fee is Tk 2,000 for non-MPO English medium colleges and 2,500 for non-MPO Bengali medium colleges.

For MPO-enlisted Bengali and English medium colleges, the admission fee has been fixed at Tk 5,000 Dhaka metropolitan areas, Tk 3,000 in other metropolitan areas of the country, Tk 2,000 at district level and Tk 1,500 at the upazila level.

There are few colleges in Dhaka which will enrol students through admission tests, including the Notre Dame College and Holy Cross College.

The results of SSC and equivalent exams were published last Sunday. A total of 2,013,597 students from the 11 education boards took part in the exams. Of them, some 1,672,153 passed. There are around 2.5 million vacant seats for the 11th grade across the country.
