DIMFF 2022 arranges masterclass on smartphone filmmaking

The 8th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival 2022 is organize a masterclass on ‘Smartphone Filmmaking Theory and Practice’. Dr Max Schleser, Senior Lecturer in Film and Television and Research at the Centre for Transformative Media Technologies, Swinburne University of Technology (Melbourne, Australia), will conduct this masterclass online. Besides being an educator, Dr Schleser is also the screening director of the International Mobile Screening & Smartphone Film Festival. This masterclass is a part of DIMFF's ongoing Masterclass sessions.

Smartphones are a part of our day-to-day lives. We often use smartphones to share our stories with the world in video format. "These smartphone filmmaking-specific characteristics and personal forms of crafting experiences contribute to a formation of new storytelling approaches," said Dr Schleser about mobile filmmaking.

Before making a film, we must have some theoretical knowledge of filmmaking. This masterclass desires to offer that knowledge to upcoming filmmakers looking forward to starting their mobile filmmaking journey. In this master class, Dr Schleser will talk about the diverse approach towards smartphone filmmaking and give an overview of the international mobile films audience.

Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) journey began in 2015 to break the stigma that people have to have access to studio worthy equipment to make a good film. DIMFF started its journey with the motto, "New Generation, New Tools, New Communication.''

The 8th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival's (DIMFF) main event will be held on 25 and 26 February 2022.
