SSC level: No group separation from next year

Education ministry

The students will not have to choose one of the science, humanities, and commerce groups in class nine from the next academic year as the authorities are all set to introduce a uniform curriculum until the higher secondary level.

The education ministry has formally extended its approval for the issuance of a notification in this regard, through a letter to the secondary and higher education division on Monday.

The authorities have introduced a new curriculum at classes one, six, and seven this year and will bring classes two, three, eight, and nine under the curriculum next year. It will be introduced in the remaining classes in 2025.

The government aims at providing uniform education to the students until the higher secondary level.

In 2020, prime minister Sheikh Hasina said there is no need for group separation in class nine, and all students can take up the same subjects up to the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) level.
