Govt to construct 3,000 new school buildings

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Wednesday that  the government would construct 3,000 new school buildings at a cost of Tk 106.94 billion, state news agency BSS reports.

“To this end, the government has given administration approval from secondary and higher secondary education department,” he said this, while responding to a question from treasury bench member Shamsul Haque Chowdhury of Chattagram in the national parliament.

The minister said the government has undertaken two projects. According to the minister, the first project is :  “Development of Private Secondary Schools and High Rise Expansion of Secondary Schools” and it was approved by ECNEC.

He said the second project, the government would expand existing buildings of secondary schools at a cost of Tk 52.37billion.
