6 MBSTU students suspended over FB remarks on student protests

Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) authorities on Wednesday suspended six of its students allegedly for making derogatory remarks about the prime minister and Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League and spreading rumour on Facebook over the student movement for road safety, reports UNB.

The suspended students are Zakia Rahman and Zakia Begum, 2nd year students of Environmental Science and Resource Management department, Tanvir Hasan, a first year student of Computer Science and Engineering department, Obaidulla, another sophomore of Physics department, Sumaia Islam, a third year student of Statistics department, and Imran Rahman, a first year student of Mathematics department of the university.

Proctor of the university Sirajul Islam said the six students were suspended as they made remarks against the prime minister and spread rumour on Facebook during the student movement.

Besides, two other students were show-caused in this regard, he said.
