Bangabandhu art contest held on DU, 30 awarded

The prize giving ceremony of children art competition marking the 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day was held on Dhaka University (DU) campus on Saturday.

DU vice-chancellor (VC) Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed prizes and certificates among the winners at the function organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban with FFA dean professor Nisar Hossain in the chair.

The competition was held on 17 March, 2019 in observance of the 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu at TSC where many children participated in three separate groups and thirty participants have won prizes.

Winners of the competition from ‘Ka’ section are — Md Musfiq Shahriar, Dil Jafira Jakaria, Mofashwara Kaniz, Sadman Hossain, Md Bokhtiar Nadim, Nitun Biswas, Khondakar Nabil Ahmed, Abiaj Alam Chowdhury Rajya, Md Yasin Arafat and Aparna Sarkar.

Awardees from ‘Kha’ section are— Kasita Nusaiba Taki, Sidratul Muntaha Erin, Nuhash Rahman Sporsho, Lutfur Nahar (Borsha), Nusrat Jahan, Fatema Tuj Johra, Fariha Islam Rafi, Raisa Islam (Jara), Sumaiya Aktar Maria and Jarlina Hasan Tiana.

Winners from ‘Ga’ section are— Bashir Ullah, Mahinur Binte Wadud, Meherun Nesa, Ananya Chowdhury Arpa, Mahima Chowdhury (Mrittika), Md Javed Howlader Rony, Muhammad Ullah Mahi, Sampa Aktar, Md Abir and Rumana Alam Nishi.

While addressing the programme, the DU VC urged the children to know Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman perfectly to prepare themselves as worthy citizens.

“The new generation must be equipped with the knowledge of Bangabandhu’s charisma. They must follow the ideals of Bangabandhu to become a good human being,” he said.

“Bangabandhu had always maintained punctuality and done everything accurately” the VC pointed out.
