Depression moves north-northwestwards

The depression over Southeast Bay and adjoining area moved north-northeastwards, intensified into a deep depression over east-central Bay and adjoining southeast Bay on Saturday, reports UNB.

The depression was centered about 925 kms South-Southwest of Chittagong port, 850 kms south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 950 kms south of Mongla port and 880 kms south of Payra port, said a press release of Met office.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northeasterly direction.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts/squalls.

Sea will remain rough near the depression centre.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal no. one ® one.

All fishing boat and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
