Barishal incident result of misunderstanding: Local govt minister

The attack on the residence of Barishal sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and the subsequent events were a result of "misunderstanding", commented minister for local government Md Tajul Islam.

He also said the incident would be resolved shortly. The minister was speaking to newspersons on Sunday at his office in the secretariat.

The minister said, from what he had learnt, the misunderstanding sprang up when certain persons went to clear away unnecessary posters and waste. In reply to another question, the minister said a case can be filed against anyone. If the charges are proven to be true, action will be taken in accordance to the law.
