Six Jana Samhati Samiti men killed in Bandarban ‘gunfight’

At least six people were shot dead and three others injured in what law enforcers called a gunfight between two groups in Bandarban Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.

Confirming the gunfight, Bandarban police superintendent Jerin Akter said the incident took place around 7:00 in the morning at Baghmara Bazar area.


All of the deceased were the members of Jana Samhati Samiti (MN Larma) group including Prajit Chakma, 65, David Marma, 45, Joy Tripura, 40, Dipen Tripura, 42, Ratan Tanchangya, 55 andBimal Kanti Chakma alias Bidhu Babu, 60.

The injured are Nihar Chakma, Bidyut Chakma and Hlaoising.

Nihar Chakma and Bidyut Chakma are undergoing treatment at Bandarban Sadar Hospital, said its physicians.
