The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has nabbed a senior official of the department of inspection for factories and establishments while taking bribe from a service seeker in Dinajpur.
Ahsanul Kabir, assistant director of ACC, confirmed the news, saying that they detained Mostafizur Rahman, deputy inspector general of the department, from its Dinajpur district office on Wednesday evening.
The ACC official said Mostafizur demanded Tk 80,000 in bribe from an auto-rice mill – Ishan Agro and Food Limited – of Chirirbandar upazila to help it renew licence.
An employee of the mill, Md Rasheduzzaman, went to the official to hand over the bribe. But, an ACC team appeared in the scene and caught Mostafizur red-handed, Ahsanul Kabir said, adding that the process of filing case against him is underway.
