Dhaka summons Pakistan high commissioner

The Bagladesh foreign office has strongly protested at a statement by the Pakistan foreign ministry on the Supreme Court verdict that dismissed the review plea against death penalty for Jamaat leader Motiur Rahman Nizami.

The foreign office summoned Pakistan high commissioner to Bangladesh Shuja Alam on Monday to lodge the protest.

Foreign secretary (bilateral) Mizanur Rahman handed over a protest note on behalf of the government of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh authorities termed the Pakistan foreign ministry’s statement on Nizami death penalty ‘totally unacceptable’.
