Electricity suppliers’ ‘negligence’ costs 4 lives

Four people, including three members of a family, died from electrocution in Bagmara of Nangalkot upazila on Friday, reports UNB from Cumilla.

The incident took place, as, local sources said, a snapped electric wire of Palli Bidyut Samity fell on a moving CNG- run auto-rickshaw

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 60, Taher's son Bayezid, 35, Taher's daughter Fahima Akter, 18 and CNG auto-rickshaw driver Sarwar Hossain, son of Abdur Rahim of Shankarpur village in the upazila.

Ashraful Islam, inspector (investigation) of Nangalkot police station, said the incident occurred around 12:30pm when the electric wire of Palli Bidyut Samity fell on the CNG run auto-rickshaw carrying six people, leaving four people dead on the spot.

Bayezid's wife and son, who were also in the auto-rickshaw and sustained injuries, were taken to a local hospital.
