Shahnaz Rahman Transcom’s new chairman, Simeen Rahman CEO

Shahnaz Rahman, the wife of late Latifur Rahman, the founding chairman of Transcom Group, has become the group's new chairman and managing director while their daughter, Simeen Rahman, has been made its chief executive officer.

Transcom Limited announced this decision on Sunday.

According to the announcement, the group’s board of directors approved the decision following the death of Latifur Rahman on 1 July at the age of 75.

Shahnaz Rahman, who has been a director of the company for years, would also hold the position of chairman of all of subsidiaries and companies of Transcom Group.

Shahnaz Rahman became the top taxpayer among women in the Dhaka city corporation in 2019. In 2017, the National Board of Revenue honoured her family as tax icons in recognition of paying taxes records.

Simeen Rahman, also a director of Transcom Group, will hold the position of CEO of Transcom. She is the managing director of Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Limited, Transcom Distribution Company Limited and Transcom Consumer Product Limited. Daughter of Latifur Rahman and Shahnaz Rahman, Simeen Rahman is an executive committee member of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Both of them will continue in their positions until they retire voluntarily, says the announcement.

One of the top business groups in Bangladesh, Transcom, has been carrying out business activities for more than 135 years. Currently, it has over 18,000 employees.
