Bangladesh U-19 off to winning start in England

Bangladesh under-19 cricket team won the warm-up game against Young Lions XI by a big margin of 108 runs at the start of their England tour on Thursday at Loughborough, reports UNB.

Young Lions won the toss and opted to bowl first. Bangladesh took the advantage of batting first scoring 259 runs for eight wickets with the help of Shahadat Hossain's 62.

In reply, Young Lions tumbled for 151 in spite of a hard-fought fifty of Luke Doneathy (58).

Bangladesh won the game relying on their tremendous bowling effort.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim took four wickets conceding only 11 runs in 7.2 overs while Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, Shahin Alam and Avishek Das took two wickets each.

The first three batsmen of Young Lions failed to score any run. Two of them fell prey to Tanzid while Mrittunjoy scalped one.

Earlier, Shahadat struck 62 while Prantik Nowrose Nabil, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Parvez Hossain Emon added 21, 29 and 20 runs for the young Tigers.

After the warm-up game, Bangladesh under-19 will play a tri-series also involving the hosts- England, and India.

Bangladesh will face England under-19 on 22 July, India on 24 and 27 July, England on 28 July, India on 30 July, England on 1 August, India on 5 August, and England on 7 August.

The top two teams will lock horns in the final on 11 August.
