Jahangirnagar University gets new VC

Professor Md Nurul Alam has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University.

Chancellor of the university, President M Abdul Hamid, appointed Nurul Alam, who is a teacher of the physics department and was serving as the pro-VC.

The education ministry issued a circular to this end on Sunday.

Nurul Alam succeeded former VC Farzana Islam.

The circular states Nurul Alam as the VC will receive the equal salary and allowance as he receives against his existing post. However, he will enjoy other privileges in relation to his post as per the rules. The VC will stay on the campus round-the-clock as the chief execute officer of the university.
