JU students demand steps against dengue

The students of Jahangirnagar University brought out a silent procession on the campus on Saturday, demanding steps for preventing dengue.

On Sunday morning, the students gathered on the Central Shaheed Minar premises on the campus at 11:00am and brought out the procession which ended up with a sit-in programme in front of the administrative building.

A first year student of the university died of dengue fever at Cox’s Bazar on Saturday after she returned home from the campus.

At the programme, the students, angered by the death of a fellow student, demanded necessary steps from the authorities to prevent dengue. They urged the authorities to equip JU’s medical centre with necessary medical instruments.

They ended their sit-in programme after getting assurance of vice chancellor professor Farzana Islam around 12:00pm.
