
RAB has claimed to have identified the man who was killed in a commando operation at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, while he was trying to hijack a Biman aircraft.
According to an SMS sent by the Rapid Action Battalion on Monday morning, the man has been identified as Md Polash Ahmed, according to RAB’s criminal database.
RAB said that the fingerprints of the young man killed in the commando attack matches those of a criminal appearing in the database.
According to their records, his name is Md Ahmed Polash, son of Peyar Jahan Sardar from Pirijpur of Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
Also, according to the passenger list of the ‘Mayurpankhi’ flight (BG 147), Polash Ahmed was a domestic passenger flying from Dhaka to Chittagong. His name on the list appeared as AHMED/POLASH and his seat number was 17A.
The Biman aircraft, dubbed ‘Mayurpankhi’, was supposed to take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Sunday, at 5:05 in the afternoon for Dubai, via Chattogram.
Immediately after taking to air, the hijacker emerged and it took around two tension-filled hours for the drama to finally end. The armed young man within the aircraft was killed in an eight minute commando operation at 7:24 in the evening on Sunday at the Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport.
