A ride sharing driver was killed in the capital on Monday morning as unidentified miscreant slit his throat and hijacked his motorbike and mobile phone.
The victim, Md Milon, 35, was attacked on the Mouchak-Moghbazar flyover while going towards Shantinagar from Malibagh on Sunday night.
Police and relatives suspect that the passenger on board his bike attacked him.
Witnesses said Milon was bleeding profusely and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after two pedestrians saw him.
Milon was later shifted to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases as his condition deteriorated further where he died at around 6am.
Milon’s wife Shilpi filed a case with the Shahjahanpur police station in this connection.
Sub inspector of Shahjahanpur police station Atikur Rahman said Milon was not using ride sharing apps. He was stabbed in front of Padma Diagnostic Center while going to Shantinagar from Malibagh.
The details of the incident could have been known had Milon used apps, said Atikur.
