Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal on Tuesday joined as secretary of the defence ministry, reports BSS.
He was welcomed at the office by additional secretary Selina Haque, Mahmud-ul-Haq, Safiqul Ahmed and joint secretary (works and development) brigadier general Md Mahfuz Alam, said a press release.
He also attended an introductory meeting with officials of different levels in the conference room of the ministry following the health guidelines.
Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal was appointed following the death of defence secretary Abdullah Al Mohsin Chowdhury from COVID-19 on 29 June.
Prior to joining the ministry, he performed as the secretary of the cultural affairs ministry.
During his career, Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal served in various capacities including assistant secretary, senior assistant secretary, deputy secretary, joint secretary, private secretary to the industries minister, special affairs department, ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts, labour and employment ministry, home ministry, education ministry, expatriate welfare and overseas employment ministry, the release added.
He also served in the embassy of Bangladesh abroad for five years.
Mustafa Kamal also received various trainings at home and abroad for the development of professional skills including higher education, added the release.
He received his PhD from the Netherlands for his research on eco-tourism.
Apart from these, the newly appointed defence secretary is also known as a successful children organiser, popular travel story writer, tourism researcher. He has also written short stories and novels.
