Rail communication with Sylhet restored after 7 hrs
Railway communication between Dhaka-Sylhet and Sylhet-Chattogram has been restored at around 6:00pm after seven hours with the recovery of a compartment of an oil tanker train.
Railway communication got halted after a compartment of an oil tanker train got derailed at Mukundapur area in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria at around 11:00am on Tuesday.
Sylhet-bound Paharika Express at Akhaura junction and Dhaka-bound Joyontika Express at Shahjibazar of Shayethaganj were stuck due to the derailment. The two trains have now started for their destinations.
Mukundapur railway station master Saiful Islam said two wheels in the front of the sixth compartment of the oil tanker train got derailed. As a result, the railway sleepers broke. Regular railway communication has resumed on this route after the installation of new sleepers.
