Court summons Shakib, Apu

Popular actor Shakib Khan and estranged wife Apu Biswas have been summoned to the family court of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on 15 January regarding Shakib's divorce notice to Apu.

Shakib and Apu were told to appear in the Mohakhali office of DNCC's Zone 3 at 10:00 am on the day.

Executive officer of DNCC Zone 3, Hemayet Hossain, confirmed this to Prothom Alo on Thursday.

Apu Biswas disclosed her marriage with Shakib Khan on 10 April last year, leading to friction between the two.

Apu appeared along with their son Abram on a private TV channel to reveal that Shakib Khan married her eight years ago. Furious at this exposure, Shakib sent a divorce notice to Apu through his lawyer in November last year.

Hemayet Hossain said Shakib and Apu would be sent notices thrice to appear in the family court in keeping with the rules.

"We will try to convince both parties to reach an understanding. But if they reject any compromise, then the divorce will go through," he added.
