Police said ten plotters of the Holey Artisan Bakery massacre in Gulshan, including the mastermind, funder and arms provider, have been identified.
The police have already traced six of them.
DMP's counter terrorism and transnational unit are investigating the case.
Chief of DMP's counter terrorism and transnational unit, Monirul Islam, told Prothom Alo that they have information about 10 people associated with the massacre, including the masterminds, arms providers and funder.
Among them, six plotters, including the Gulshan attack operational commanders Nurul Islam Marzan and Zonaid Khan have been traced.
Police are searching for the others.
Investigating officials of the Gulshan attack case said they did not have much information about the attack as all five attackers were killed.
However, the investigation took a new turn after the raid in Kalyanpur militant den on 26 July.
Militants killed in Kalyanpur raid had ties with the Gulshan attackers.
Several investigating officials of the case told Prothom Alo that main coordination of Gulshan attack Tamim Chowdhury and communication coordinator Tawsif Hossain were killed in the Narayanganj raid.
Nurul Islam Marzan was the operational commander of the attack and Zonaid Khan, Khaled and Manik were associated with plotting the massacre.
'Neo JMB' leader Rajib alias Rajib Gandhi sent two people to Tamim to carry out the attack.
Several officials of the counter-terrorism unit said Bangladeshi-Canadian citizen Tamim Chowdhury was the mastermind and coordinator of the Gulshan attack.
He was killed in the Narayanganj raid on 27 August.
Another 'neo JMB' leader Ripon was also aware of the Gulshan attack.
Marzan is reportedly on the verge of being caught and Zonaid was last seen in Kalyanpur militant den.
Twenty hostages, including 17 foreign nationals, were killed by militants on 1 July, while five militants and one suspected associate of the attackers were killed during a commando operation inside the café on 2 July.
Raihan Kabir, trainer of the Gulshan attackers, was later killed in Kalyanpur. He was staying in the rented mess with other militants near Sholakia eidgah ground in Kishoreganj. He later came to Dhaka to stay with other militants in Shewrapara.
Raihan then shifted with five other militants to a rented flat in Bashundhara residential area on 7 June. Later, alleged Gulshan attack mastermind Tamim Chowdhury joined them. A meeting was held regarding the attack in the flat in the presence of another top leader of neo JMB Wasim Ajwat Abdullah. The last meeting took place two days before the attack where all plans were finalised.
Rakibul Hasan alias Regan, who was injured during the Kalyanpur raid, during police interrogation said the Gulshan attackers maintained contact with the militants killed in Kalyanpur raid. Tamim Chowdhury also visited the Kalyanpur flat to pay money and to inspire the militants.
Counter-terrorism unit chief Monirul Islam said they have all detailed information about where the arms of Gulshan attack came from and , who paid for the attack.
Police only arrested former North South University teacher Abul Hasnat Rezaul Karim in the Gulshan incident. Monirul Islam said Hasnat was interrogated by the taskforce for interrogation (TFI) cell. Information about his involvement will be revealed in the TFI cell report and also the forensic report of Hasnat’s mobile. However, Hasnat has denied involvement in the attack.
The bodies of the six, including the five militants killed during the Gulshan attack are yet to be handed over to their families. The bodies have been kept at the Combined Military Hospital morgue.
Deputy commissioner (public relations) Masudur Rahman of the detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said counter terrorism unit of DMP received the DNA report of the six deceased.
The families of the deceased have to submit applications if they want to take the bodies, he added. If the investigation officer is convinced that they do not need the bodies further, then legal steps can be taken to handover the bodies.
