Four including a police man were killed as a passenger bus hit a stationary truck early Saturday on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Sonashur, Gopalganj.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rashid, sub-inspector at Gopalganj police lines, Bijan Hawlader, 25, assistant of bus driver Russel, 24, and Kamol Mandal, 25 all of who except Abdur Rashid came from Nazirpur, Pirojpur.

The accident that took place around 4:00am left 14 more people wounded.

According to Gopalganj fire service deputy assistant director Md. Jan-e-Alam, the accident took place when a Najirpur-bound bus of Imad Paribahan from Dhaka hit a goods-laden stationary truck parked on the road from behind.

The collision left three dead on the spot and another succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital, Jan-E-Alam said adding that several of the injured were in a critical condition.

The injured were reportedly taken to the local 250-bed hospital.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga highway police station in Faridpur Ataur Rahman confirmed the incident.
