Husband kills pregnant wife

A pregnant woman has been strangled to death allegedly by her husband in Kishoreganj sadar upazila, reports UNB.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Kashorarchor village under Mohinond union of Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila.

Locals said, husband Sumon, 21, son of Abdur Rahim Bhutto of Chongsholakia area, allegedly killed his pregnant wife Juena Akter, 19, daughter of certain Ali Newaz of village Kashorarchor, by strangling her.

Sumon covered the body with a blanket and fled the scene after the murder.

Police and local sources informed that Juena got married to auto-rickshaw driver Sumon this year. Their marriage however, was full of squabble.

On Tuesday, Sumon went to his in-laws’ house at village Kashorarchar and spent the night, before leaving the next morning in the post-Fajr period.

On Wednesday morning, Juena’s father Ali Newaz found her dead on the bed.

On information, police rushed to the house and sent the body to the Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Abu Bakar Siddiq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Sadar Model police station, informed that the body bore no injury marks.

The police was primarily suspecting that Juena might have been killed by strangulation, the OC added.
