Oxygen Express starts for Bangladesh with 200 tonnes of oxygen
Indian Railway’s Oxygen Express has started out for Bangladesh on Saturday, carrying 200 metric tonnes of medical oxygen in 10 containers, according to India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB).
This is the first time that the Oxygen Express is travelling to a neighbouring country since India launched this special train service on 24 April 2021. There are 480 such Oxygen Express trains operating in India so far.
This consignment of oxygen will significantly augment Bangladesh’s liquid oxygen supply.
The 200 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen was loaded into the 10 containers at 9:25am Saturday morning. This oxygen will be supplied to hospitals within Bangladesh as part of India’s support to tackling the on-going Covid crisis.
The PIB report said India is committed to share medical supplies to his closest partners once the pandemic situation improves.
