Mashiur Rahman Ranga’s rejoinder, our reply

Mashiur Rahman Ranga

Rangpur-1 constituency’s (Gangachara) lawmaker and opposition chief whip in parliament Mashiur Rahman Ranga sent a rejoiner to Prothom Alo’s report titled ‘Ranga 'cheated many Rangpur people' out of millions of taka’.

In a rejoinder sent on the letterhead of the national parliament on 21 February, Ranga termed the report ‘tainted, defamatory, disrespectful and offensive. The report has mentioned Ranga’s deceased wife Rakiba Nasrin out of ill intent, the rejoinder said.

Ranga said he has been working with good reputation in home and abroad as elected lawmaker for the last three parliaments, former minister and a current opposition chief whip. The reporter carried the news on the behest of a vested quarter when Ranga is preparing to take part in the next general election.

Ranga said it was a crime to carry the report, intended to humiliate him socially, politically and mentally.

The rejoinder said such propaganda against respected and reputed persons through yellow journalism might create chaos in the society and state. Such reports would stoke disruption of law and order, putting the government in an uncomfortable situation.
