Yunus meets Biden in New York

The much discussed meeting between US president Joe Biden and chief adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh Dr. Muhammad Yunus has started at the sideline of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations.

The meeting started at Tuesday morning local time. The meeting is being held at a meeting room of the UN Headquarters. This was disclosed in a post from the official Facebook page of the chief adviser.

Dr. Yunus reached New York on Monday to attend the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations. He joined the assembly at the behest of UN secretary general António Guterres.

Earlier this morning, chief adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus joined the reception programme organised by the UN secretary general. There he exchanged greetings with several country chiefs and international leaders, including Brazil president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Mauritius president Prithvirajsing Roopun, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
