Pahela Baishakh at Rabindra Sarobar

The city’s Rabindra Sarobar has been a popular choice for the Dhaka dwellers to celebrate important days and festivals. On the Pahela Baishakh - the first day of Bangla new year - people in their hundreds thronged the place wearing colourful dresses, regardless of their gender, age and profession.

Following are some of the glimpses of the Baishakh celebration captured by Prothom Alo’s Quamrul Hassan.

.A boy plays a replica ektara (musical instrument) on the Pahela Baishakh..The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also joined the celebration by offering people flowers and sweets on the Pahela Baishakh.
