Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized about 45 kilograms of silver jewelleries from Kaliani border area in Satkhira on Friday night.
Some miscreants brought the jewelleries in the area to smuggle them into India around 2:00am, the BGB officials said.
Sensing the presence of the BGB members the smugglers fled the scene abandoning the jewelleries, said company commander of Kaliani BGB Siddik Hossain.
“No smuggler was arrested at the time,” he added.
Earlier, a team of BGB arrested three smugglers along with about 75 kilograms of gold, worth about Tk 367.70 million, in separate drives from Narikelbariya and Shikri areas of Sharsha upazila in Jashore on Thursday.
