Abbas gets 'mug', Khokon 'hilsa'

Awami League-backed mayoral candidate in Dhaka South City Corporation Sayeed Khokon has been allotted 'hilsa' as his election symbol while BNP-backed candidate Mirza Abbas has been given 'mug'.

The poll signs were allotted on Friday at the Kazi Bashir auditorium of Dhaka Mahanagar Natya Mancha.

Sayeed Khokon left the hall after he was given his election symbol.

Mirza Abbas was not present at the programme. However, the supporters of Abbas started chanting slogans at the hall after his sign was allotted but the officials silenced them.  

As many as 20 candidates will run for the mayoral race in the DSCC polls.
